After a fun shoot for Ashley’s birthday, she asked to book another session for her and her daughter. I was excited. During our first chat, she shared her vision. She wanted a mother-daughter photo shoot in an ice cream shop with a vintage feel.
Ashley sent me some mood boards. They inspired me and reminded me of Gordon Parks’ amazing photos. His work captured African-American life during the civil rights era. I was eager to bring Ashley’s dream to life.
We found a lovely coffee shop called Little Tart in Summer Hill. It had a perfect vibe. Next door was an ice cream shop. The owners were kind enough to let us use their space for the shoot.
Our goal was to highlight the joy of childhood and the bond between a mother and daughter. I know that photo sessions can be stressful, especially for kids, but Peyton was a natural in front of the camera. Both Ashley and Peyton made the shoot enjoyable and effortless.
When the photos were ready, I met Ashley again at a coffee shop. We talked about how she wanted to use the images. We decided on a stunning collection of framed prints and custom holiday cards for her family.
Looking back, I feel grateful for this experience. Everything turned out beautifully. It was truly a wonderful opportunity to capture special family memories and create lasting art. Sharing these moments through photography feels so rewarding, especially when it involves love and connection like this.
